SUMMARY:Wird Achtsam das neue Agil?

SUMMARY:Achtsamkeit für (angehende) Agilisten
New Work / Agilität besonders unterstützt.

SUMMARY:Mindfulness for the (aspiring) agilist
DESCRIPTION:Most of us experience a lot of change in these times. Changes in how we organize our work and what our product or service is. And for some of us\, this gets combined with fears around their economic future\, their own health and the health of their loved ones. \nSo in a certain way\, this is like Agile in extreme. A lot of change\, some of it is out of our control and we still want to act smartly in the midst of uncertainty. \nThis is exactly a situation where a science-based modern mindfulness practice really helps. Mindfulness can support you to stay grounded and calm and to act from a place of concentration and clarity. It will help you personally and as a consequence your organization. \nDuring the hour we spend together I will talk about what modern\nmindfulness is and why it is especially supportive in New Work / Agile environments. But most important we will practice together: I will guide you through a meditation that is designed to help with facing uncertainty and (unwanted) change. \nTips for attending\nTo get the most out of this session\, make a choice to be fully present\nfor the full hour. The session is interactive and we will meditate\ntogether\, so it is not really suitable for listening in while you answer\nsome emails. \nIf you are comfortable with it\, turn on your video\, it helps to connect\nus more as a community of learners. \nI’m looking forward to meeting all of you! \nSign-Up\nSign-Up through Meetup!

SUMMARY:Modern Mindfulness Practices for Coders and Knowledge Workers
DESCRIPTION:Is there a way to train our most basic cognitive and emotional skills? The basic skills like focus\, clarity about what is important now and skills that support collaboration? These skills are the basis for all our work in an agile and complex environment and therefore improving them would give us great leverage to work better and be happier. \nModern mindfulness practices are a set of scientifically researched practices to improve on those skills. And while mindfulness practices are hundreds or even thousands of years old\, it is only around 30 years ago scientists got intrigued by the cognitive skills of long term practitioners. They started scientific research into mindfulness practices\, examining what works and what doesn’t. \nOut of that research\, a modern mindfulness approach has emerged that is now taught at Google\, SAP and other tech companies. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn what modern mindfulness is\, why it is useful to practice and what some of the scientific research results are. \nBut mostly it will be a day of practicing. We will practice in three areas: \n\nHow to learn to better focus on what needs to be done now\nHow to deal better with uncertainty and to better integrate emotions and thinking in decision making\nHow to be smarter and kinder in our human relationships\n\nAnd while some of these practices require to explicitly make time for them in your daily life\, you will also learn on-the-go practices that you can do during the day\, thus easily integrating mindfulness in your daily life.

SUMMARY:Mind as Code - Mindfulness for Developers and Knowledge Workers
DESCRIPTION:The last years have given rise to the idea\, that – besides knowledge – practice is essential for developers and knowledge workers. There are code katas\, coding and coaching dojos\, pair and mob programming. \nA scientifically underpinned way to systematically develop a different kind of skill-set is mindfulness. With a regular mindfulness practice you can improve concentration\, equanimity and impulse control; skills that are useful and very much needed in complex agile environments. Basically you become more proficient in hacking your mind: you slowly learn the programming language your mind responds to and thus cultivate a more friendly and fruitful relationship to your mind. \nIn this interactive session I will present how mindfulness works and why it is worth practicing for a developer. We look at the neuroscience behind it and do a short practice that you can take home with you. \nAll of that using a lot of comparisons to coding and there even will be a cat video.

SUMMARY:Mind as Code - Mindfulness for Developers and Knowledge Workers
DESCRIPTION:How to be more relaxed with the craziness of the world? How to focus more on what is really important during work and in life? How to be more resilient\, when things don’t work the way we wanted? And how to react smarter to a situation like that? \nMindfulness is a scientifically researched practice to train the mind. It’s like switching to a new\, more useful\, operating system. Everything becomes a bit easier. But in this case you are not switching your OS\, you are slowly training your mind to become a more useful tool. Basically\, you become more proficient in hacking your mind: you slowly learn the programming language your mind responds to and thus cultivate a more friendly and fruitful relationship to your mind. \nAt work\, a regular mindfulness practice improves concentration\, equanimity and impulse control; skills that are useful and very much needed in complex agile environments. \nAnd while mindfulness practices have been around for quite a while\, it is fascinating that in the last 30 years there has been a lot of scientific research into mindfulness\, separating what works from what doesn’t. \nIn this interactive talk\, I will share a bit of my own personal story\, we will look at how mindfulness works and why it is worth practicing. We also look at some of the science behind it and do a short practice that you can take home with you. \nAll of that using a lot of analogies to coding and there even will be a cat video.

DESCRIPTION:How to be more relaxed with the craziness of the world? How to focus more on what is really important during work and in life? How to be more resilient\, when things don’t work the way we wanted? And how to react smarter to a situation like that? \nMindfulness is a very useful practice to develop all these skills by training one’s mind. It’s like switching to a new\, more useful\, operating system. Everything becomes a bit easier. SUMMARY:Mind as Code - Achtsamkeit für Entwickler und Wissensarbeiter

SUMMARY:Wie eine Organisation "Veränderung" lernt

SUMMARY:Creating the inner conditions for agile - a Google born approach
DESCRIPTION:Learn how you can systematically develop your own capacity to embrace agile ways of working and being \nAgile needs the capacity to deal with uncertainty\, which especially in the beginning feels unpleasant. It requires skills in letting go\, delegating and embracing the new while it is still quite unknown. \nAgile is therefore not just a shift in mindset – emotional and social capacities need to be developed as well. These capacities are often overlooked when we analyse why change efforts fail because people don’t name their own emotions as a major cause. \nHow can we systematically and effectively develop these capacities in as many people as possible in an organization? \nI’m going to present elements of the Search Inside Yourself seminar – a two day science-based approach to develop mindfulness and emotional intelligence especially for knowledge workers in complex\, agile environments. \nYou will learn the Why and the What and we will do a few exercises.

SUMMARY:Lean Meetings

SUMMARY:Agile Manifesto: Collective Story Harvesting with Ward Cunningham\, James Grenning & Arie van Bennekum
DESCRIPTION:In 2016 the Agile Manifesto celebrates its 15th anniversary. \nAs we have three originators Ward Cunningham\, James Grenning and Arie van Bennekum of the Agile Manifesto at OOP\, we will hear from the source about the creation in Snowbird\, Utah 2001. \nWe will use a method called „Collective Story Harvesting“\, where all participants distill important aspects by concentrating on selected perspectives. Besides hearing James‘\, Ward‘s and Arie‘s stories with the ears of all participants\, you might get inspired to use „Collective Story Harvesting“ in your context. \nWe’ve run this process at Agile Coach Camp with Markus Wittwer as facilitator\, Martin Heider as a story teller and about 30 participants. From that experience we know that it can be an insightful and touching experience to the story teller. That might be a kind of gift for James\, Ward and Arie\, which aresome kind of heroes in the second row. \nFurthermore it provides the participants a much deeper insight about the told story\, because they hear it not only with two\, but every participants ears. And it might be good to hear and talk about the roots of Agile as contrast to nowadays „Agile“ prefix of everything. \nLast but not least the most important reason: 15 years of Agile Manifesto and having two of the originators at OOP is a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be missed!

Burrows 2014) bereichert Markus Wittwer mit seinem Beitrag „Mindful Leadership – the Search Inside Yourself approach“. \nSee you all there 🙂
